Glamorous EuroEyes Meeting 2026 in Sønderborg
From 15 to 17 January, the Danish town of Sønderborg became the international meeting place for refractive ophthalmology: the largest EuroEyes meeting to date took place at the 5-star Hotel Alsik. Doctors and employees of the EuroEyes Clinic Group travelled from Germany, England, Denmark and Switzerland to exchange information on the latest medical developments, strategic objectives and clinical experiences.
Around 250 employees from Switzerland, Germany, England, Denmark and the UK came together to celebrate this anniversary and work intensively with each other. It was the first time we had held such a large supra-regional meeting with employees from all countries.
Employees from a wide range of areas were represented: opticians, doctors, receptionists, nurses, marketing and accounting staff – a strong sign of our interdisciplinary team spirit.
Moderation with a clear vision: Focus on the patient
Dr Jørn S. Jørgensen, founder, CEO and Medical Director of the EuroEyes Clinic Group, together with his son Jannik Jørgensen and Professor Michael C. Knorz, Medical Director of the EuroEyes Clinic Group, guided the audience through the varied programme.
All presentations, discussions and panels focused on one overarching question: How can patients receive the best possible technical and medical treatment? There was consensus that close international exchange between clinics and specialists is a key factor in ensuring sustainable quality and innovation.
The focus was on:
👁️ Specialist presentations on laser eye surgery and lens surgery
💬 Internal discussions and round-table formats between the various employee groups
🤝 Exchange, teamwork and strengthening our team spirit

Scientific highlights and focus on presbyopia
One of the main topics was presbyopia (age-related long-sightedness) – an issue that is increasingly affecting younger patients due to changing viewing habits and increasing smartphone use. State-of-the-art therapeutic approaches were presented, including the Presbyond laser procedure and high-tech intraocular lenses such as trifocal lenses, LAL (Light Adjustable Lens) and EDoF lenses. The presentations impressively demonstrated how presbyopia can already be treated individually and precisely today.

Strong sign of international growth
One of the particular highlights of the past year was the founding of EuroEyes Switzerland. This made it all the more gratifying that numerous colleagues from Switzerland were able to attend the meeting. Their presence underscored the international orientation of the clinic group and the close networking within the EuroEyes family.

A fresh start: ice bathing in the morning
The morning ice bath in the wintry waters off Sønderborg provided an extraordinary start to the day. Many participants took up the Nordic challenge and woke themselves up, focused and energised for the day's programme – an experience that not only boosted their circulation but also strengthened team spirit.
The most successful EuroEyes clinics – Hamburg, Frankfurt, Berlin and Bremen – were also honoured at the ceremony, as were the new refractive coordinators who successfully completed their training.
Another special moment was the honouring of Veranika Kulikouskaya as Employee of the Year – an award for exceptional commitment and outstanding performance.
Conclusion
The EuroEyes Meeting 2026 in Sønderborg brought together medical excellence, international cooperation and a strong team spirit. It clearly demonstrated what EuroEyes stands for: innovation, experience and a shared commitment to always providing patients with the best possible eye care.
