Is there an increased risk of Covid-19 after laser eye treatment ?

There is no increased risk of infection after laser eye treatment. It is fundamentally important to continue to pay attention to your own hygiene behavior and to wash your hands thoroughly.

Is it dangerous to have laser eye or lens surgery now?

Currently undergoing eye surgery is not dangerous. However, when planning an operation, you should be careful not to have contracted influenza yourself and not to return from one of the risk areas in the past two weeks or to have had contact with an infected person. These facts apply not only to self-protection, but above all to the well-being of the general public. The main aim should be to prevent a possible further spread of the virus.

Can a viral disease like corona affect the outcome of treatment?

The virus is not expected to directly influence the healing process on the eye. The result should not be impaired in the short and long term.

Are there any special measures that patients need to take with regard to corona?

In principle, the same protection and precautionary measures apply to the coronavirus as to normal virus flu. It is important to exercise caution and prudence in the immediate area in order to minimize the risk of infection.

Are appointments made to EuroEyes and treatments carried out?

Yes, our clinics are open, all appointments are adhered to and the operation of the OR takes place routinely. Of course, we take a very close look at our surroundings. Patients who want to travel from high-risk areas or who have stayed in them in the past 14 days are currently not scheduled for appointments or surgery.

Are certain measures taken to protect against a virus infection at EuroEyes?

Our hygiene commission monitors the development very closely and adjusts the procedure in our clinics according to the current situation. Hand hygiene with disinfectants, knowledge of hygiene tips and the completion of a questionnaire on possible contact scenarios with virus-infected people are currently requested as standard. Suspected risk patients are kept away from the office hours.

What should you pay particular attention to as a contact lens wearer?

It has been shown that the transmission pathways of the n-COV can also affect the conjunctiva. Therefore, it is advisable to largely avoid contact lenses during a virus outbreak. If that is not possible, there are a few things to consider. You will find more information here. You will find more information here.

Which is better – hand washing or using disinfectant?

Basically, both are sufficient, because washing hands not only removes dirt, but also viruses. If you are unable to wash your hands, hand disinfectant can be used for additional protection.

What should you pay particular attention to a plane?

When traveling by plane or train, you should always take care to avoid contact with other people. With regard to hand disinfection and cough and sneeze labels, please note the hygiene tips . It is important to avoid stretching from hand to face or mouth as much as possible. Wash your hands thoroughly before, during and after each trip or when you return from the public. This applies all the more to food intake.
