    “Star” generally means various eye diseases. The word “star” is derived from “rigid” (old German: “star”), since the “rigid gaze” was the name for the gaze of the blind in the Middle Ages. Blindness due to an eye disease is also called black star (A). White star is a white scar on the cornea. The most widespread eye diseases in Germany include cataract (grey star) and glaucoma.

    For more than 20 years the magazine FOCUS has published medical lists of the leading medical professionals in Germany. As part of the extensive research, the list of the top ophthalmologists for 2021 has now been published. It was Dr. Jørn Jørgensen who has been included in the “FOCUS doctor list” for the 10th time and is once again one of Germany’s top ophthalmologists. In addition to Dr. Jørn Jørgensen, EuroEyes doctors Dr. Markus Bauer, Dr. Barbara Lege and PD Dr. Ralf-Christian Lerche received the FOCUS seal. Since 2012, the doctors have received the annual “Top Medic” award without interruption.
